Yoongi likes to think that he’s a kind king… and because of that, every so often, people try to take advantage of that kindness. Sometimes he lets them, and his loves are definitely unhappy when that happens. But not always, which means the people trying are don’t like it when their attempts are unsuccessful.
Like the man brought to kneel in front of him at the moment. It was well into the afternoon, Yoongi letting people into his court to appeal for various things, and he was getting tired. He hadn’t slept well, his inner dragon was restless, and a dull pounding was starting right behind his left eye.
He resists the urge to rub his temple, looking down at the man that was kneeling while glaring at the ground. The man suddenly scoffs, lifting his head and looking directly into Yoongi’s eyes. Yoongi does his best to suppress his shock — no one looks directly at the king.
“You’re blind in one eye, and think you can lead this country?” the man growls. “You’re barely fit as a dragon, much less fit to be king.”
Immediately a low, warning rumble sounds to his left, Taehyung stepping forward with flashing golden eyes. “I would be very careful with how you speak to your king.”
Yoongi feels heat from his other side as a low flame is blown from Jeongguk’s lips towards the man in front of them, and at any other time, he would have laughed at his loves theatrics. But they both know how he’s struggled with his identity as a dragon, especially due to his blindness, and are not taking this lightly.
“Leave now,” Jeongguk growls, “Or I won’t hesitate to make sure you are the unfit dragon here.”
The man’s courage has long left him, and he instantly turns and rushes out of the court.
“There will be no more visitors for today,” Jeongguk says, addressing the remaining people in the court. “Leave now.”
The court immediately empties, and the two dragons turn to face Yoongi where he sits.
“Hyung,” Taehyung murmurs. “Are you okay?”
Yoongi doesn’t answer, pushing himself to stand instead. He walks past them to the side, and makes his way down the stairs, out the door into the hall. He continues down the hall, nodding politely to the servants he passes on the way, until he gets to another set of doors at the end of the hall. He pushes the doors open, chewing on his lips as he passes through another hall, and ducks his head in greeting to the guards posted along the way.
After a few turns, he reaches his room and enters, striding through the large space to another set of doors on the other side. The final traces of tension leave him when he steps into his garden. His dragon lets out a satisfied rumble in the back of his mind , the dull throbbing slowly fading away the further he steps into his garden. He can sense Jeongguk and Taehyung following closely behind, the only other people allowed on this side of the palace (apart from their closest friends.)
“Hyung,” Jeongguk calls, but Yoongi ignores him as he heads to the center of the garden, various plants lining the pathway and bushes that give way to a large hot spring. He slowly pulls off his clothes, throwing them haphazardly to the side before sinking into the water with a sigh and closes his eyes. He distantly hears Jeongguk and Taehyung doing the same, the water rippling as they slip into the spring and make their way towards him.
“Hyung,” Taehyung calls again, and finally, Yoongi breaks. A low whimper escapes his lips, the other two scrambling forward to take him into their arms as tears begin to stream down his face. Jeongguk wipes the tears from his eyes while Taehyung murmuring kind words into his hair, both letting out comforting rumbles from their chest and their soothing scent.
It takes several minutes for Yoongi to calm down, and its only then that Jeongguk leans down to press a kiss to the scar on his left eye. Taehyung turns Yoongi around in his arms and leans down to do the same, and Yoongi sighs as Jeongguk’s arms wind around his waist.
“This doesn’t make you any less of a dragon,” Taehyung whispers, leaning forward to kiss his scar again. “Nor does it make you unfit to be our king.”
