“Jeongguk, we have to go, now,” Hoseok urges from behind him.

Jeongguk ignores him, squeezing his eyes shut as he presses his forehead to Yoongi’s before kissing him. It’s bittersweet, having to say goodbye, and not by choice.

Yoongi, Namjoon and Taehyung were being called to protect their country’s borders — something that was presented as an honor, but was truly a punishment. It was a punishment for them becuase they’d fallen in love with four other people who were not of the same noble status, and they refused to denounce their loves in their acts of rebellion against the government.

Seokjin, Hoseok and Jimin had already said their goodbyes, and stood off to the side while Jeongguk said his. Namjoon first, then Taehyung, and now Yoongi who he holds tightly, knowing that letting go would mean it was truly time for them to leave.

So he bites back a sob when he and Yoongi reluctantly part, tears beginning to rolls down his cheeks as Yoongi’s hands slip off his waist. He watches Yoongi step back to where Namjoon and Taehyung wait, then moves to step towards them, but finds himself tugged back by Seokjin and Jimin.

“You have to— you have to make sure you don’t get hurt okay?” Jeongguk calls softly, “Because I’ll never forgive you if you do. When this is all over, you better come back to me— to us in one piece.”

Yoongi, Hoseok and Taehyung nod, their own eyes glistening as they listen to their love’s words.

“Jeongguk*, please,”* Hoseok calls again, voice trembling. “We have to go before they find us here. You know what happens if they do.”

Jeongguk nods, covering his lips with a trembling hand to conceal the sobs that threaten to escape. He goes when Jimin tugs on his arm, giving one last look to the other three before he turns with Jimin to follow Hoseok and Seokjin back to their home.
