Jungkook slowly approaches the end of the street where the Beyond the Fringe building stands. It’s the start of his second week here, and while it’s not something he ever envisioned it’s been an okay experience so far. It’s not like he has much a choice either, especially when the center was the first and only place to offer him a job. He glances up at the sign as he approaches the front doors which slide open for him to step through.

“Jeongguk-ssi!”

Jeongguk startles and turns in to face who called his name. He finds the director standing in front of one of the halls, a few other staff glancing between them as they walk past. Jeongguk ignores their curious stares as he walks up to Nam Sunja.

“Good morning, Sunja-nim,” he greets quietly.

Sunja shifts and Jeongguk fights the urge to wrinkle his nose at the wave of her scent that drifts around him.

“Good morning. Come with me.”

Jeongguk moves to follow her as she turns and leads him through the building. “How are you? Do you feel comfortable fulfilling the forest pack requests yet?”

“I’m okay,” Jeongguk replies, glancing through one of the open doors they pass. “I’m comfortable fulfilling them.”

Truthfully, he’s not entirely ready to be thrown into something he’s spent less than a week learning how to do. He doesn’t dare admit that, though, not wanting to risk losing this job.

Sunja’s strong scent flares, a sign that she’s pleased. “Good. I know that you haven’t fully trained on this, but I think you know enough to get it done. It’s pretty intuitive anyway.” She pauses to pull open a door, gesturing for Jeongguk to pass and walks in after him.

The room they step into is a large storage and fulfilment room, filled with rows and rows of shelves. The wall closest to them thankfully has windows, and in front of the windows is a long row of tables. Jeongguk’s gaze roams over the room, vaguely remembering where certain things are from his training the week before.

“You were supposed to work with Miri, but she called out this morning because her heat came early,” Sunja explains as she leads Jeongguk to the end of the row. “We’re short staff as it is, so you’ll be alone for the first few hours until Namil comes in. I’ll send him up to work with you for the rest of the day.”

Jeongguk keeps his expression neutral as he nods, while he internally already dreads working with Namil. Of the few people he shadowed the week before, Kang Namil was the one he disliked the most, and hoped that he wouldn’t have to work with often. Clearly fate had other plans.

The table in front of them is covered in deconstructed boxes, empty bags, tape, and other materials needed for this task, much like the rest of the tables in the row. Sunja sets the stack of items in her hands on the table after clearing a space, and pulls out a clipboard holding several pages.

“Here,” she says as she hands the clipboard over to him. “This is today’s list of packs with their requests. You remember how this works, correct?”

“Yes,” Jeongguk answers as he accepts the clipboard, hoping that she doesn’t ask him for a detailed explanation.
