“Hyung,” Namjoon calls.
Yoongi doesn’t move. His fangs peek from between his lips and his red eyes glow brilliantly — as they do when his emotions are heightened. At least that’s what Namjoon’s come to learn in their seven months together since they’ve left the city and come to this little village.
This same village where vampires and humans live as a community, and hope to bring the same idea of coexistence to other places, including the city Namjoon and Yoongi escaped from.
It wasn’t much of an adjustment for them, especially when they were welcomed with open arms. For Namjoon its been especially easy for him; he no longer has to hide his human identity, and can even go without scentblockers if he wants to. Yoongi’s only struggle however, is with other vampires. Specifically those who stare at Namjoon a little too long.
Like the one that Yoongi is growling at now.
“Hyung,” Namjoon calls again, this time wrapping a hand around Yoongi’s bicep. “Look at me.”
Yoongi ignores him to continue glaring at the vampire standing a few feet away, paralyzed by Yoongi’s earlier command. “He was staring at you, Joon-ah,” he growls.
Namjoon hums, and moves around Yoongi to stand between him and the other vampire. Yoongi frowns, immediately spinning them both around so that Yoongi is once again between Namjoon and the vampire.
“I don’t like him looking at you.”
“He won’t,” Namjoon replies, reaching up to cup Yoongi’s face. Yoongi falters at the touch, but it’s still not enough to soothe the tension clearly lining his body. “He won’t,” Namjoon repeats, gently stroking Yoongi’s cheek with his thumb. “You’ve given him enough of a warning and he knows better than to do it again.”
Yoongi is silent, his red eyes boring into Namjoon’s and his hands firmly gripping his hips.
“Hyung,” Namjoon urges softly, reaching up to card a hand through Yoongi’s hair, before cupping his face again. Finally, the intensity of his glowing eyes seems to fade and some of the tension leaves him. “That’s it. Let’s release him, hm?”
The corner of Yoongi’s lips turn down, several minutes passing before Yoongi finally looks over his shoulder. “You can move now. And don’t—”
“Yoongi-hyung,” Namjoon interrupts, his tone heavy with warning. “He knows.”
A low, indignant rumble leaves Yoongi’s throat but he doesn’t say anything more. They both watch as the vampire immediately runs away without looking back, and Yoongi doesn’t turn away until the vampire is completely out of his site. Even then, it isn’t until Namjoon tries to leave his grasp that Yoongi moves, his hands tightening on Namjoon’s hips.
“Let’s go home,” Namjoon says, reaching down to grip Yoongi’s wrist. He can’t move Yoongi’s hand, not with his vampiric strength, but its enough for Yoongi to finally return his full attention to Namjoon.
